Sandbox
Our malware analysis sandbox tool performs cutting edge analysis of the potentially malicious file in our controlled environment. Our free online malicious software (malware) analysis tool provides a fast comprehensive evaluation of a variety of malware such as botnet software, viruses, spyware, trojans, and keyloggers. Once you upload your potential malware sample to be analyzed a custom report will be generated for you. Upon completion of the analysis, an e-mail will be sent back to you in a PDF format. The report will outline the activity generated and observed once the file is executed within our controlled environment.
Our malware analysis tool is a "Sandbox" used for testing suspicious software (binaries) in a controlled environment. Wikipedia refers to a sandbox as "a security mechanism for separating running programs. Some Sandboxes are used to execute untested code, or un-trusted programs from unverified third-parties, suppliers and un-trusted users." Our malware analysis tool is designed to conduct analysis on the file submitted.

NSI's malware tool does not test your binary sample in a Virtual Machine (VM) environment as some sandboxes do because we have found that some malware is VM aware, and therefore does not execute as it otherwise would. We started the development of our tool based upon the model utilized in the “Truman” server and then expanded upon the capabilities provided by this GNU publicly licensed software. We allow the software to act as it would in a live network environment and provide interaction with the malicious file to generate the results that would occur on your system if the file were executed. By allowing the malware to execute we are able to observe the various changes to the file structure of the infected system, identify potentially malicious connections to hostile IP addresses, and annotate newly generated files designed to infect the host system. We then observe the hostile files conducting a number of system level control functions designed to provide control of the victim computer to an outside entity for various nefarious purposes.
The report we provide will give your IT staff a better understanding of the potential hazards to your network security posture and a clear picture of potentially compromised systems within your network. We are here to help. Please contact us if you have any other questions about our product.
